everybody's starry eyed

So today has been pretty uneventful really - some classes throughout the morning and then my fiancé and I went to pick up some new things for our apartment. I had a yummy strawberries and cream frappucino from Starbucks, which I think I'm probably going to get addicted to this summer, and then I came home and checked out the pictures from the Costume Institute Gala on Monday while I made dinner. There were some great outfits on the red carpet, and a couple of things really stood out to me. Here were my favourites:

Emma Watson in Burberry

I loved everything about this gown - the asymmetric shoulder, the gentle ruffles and ruching and even the perfectly placed split to the thigh (though generally I am not a huge fan of the split...). I thought this was a great choice for Emma and she looked beautiful in it.
Alexa Chung in 3.1 Phillip Lim

Never one to be a wallflower, Alexa definitely didn't disappoint in her bold choice - Phillip Lim's tuxedo style trouser suit was probably one of the more daring outfits seen that night. I admire the fact that not many people could pull off this look, yet she manages to wear this with a kind of nonchalance that suggests something as boring as a dress never even crossed her mind! The red lips, skinny ribbon and heels give it a feminine twist and make this one of my favourite looks that I've seen on the red carpet.

And here's what I wore out today:

It was a gorgeous day today. I love walking through my local park when the trees are covered in blossom and all of the flowers are fresh and new. I probably in with the scenery fairly well in my floral dress! I hope the rest of the summer is as lovely as today has been. It's probably the wrong time of year for me to be testing the knee socks trend, but I thought they'd give this outfit a little something extra - though I was definitely far too warm all day!
