little talks

Posting again so soon, you ask? Well, I've definitely got the blogging bug back! I wore this yesterday to meet my best friend and assist her on the hunt for an outfit for the weekend - just call me Gok Wan! It was entirely too hot for a jumper and I ended up taking it off for the majority of the day; will us Brits ever nail the ability to dress for the weather? Honestly, last week it felt like February and I was seriously considering digging out my coat from the depths of my floordrobe, and now it's back up to 20 degrees. Temperamental is the word!

This is the first time I've worn these Topshop trousers. I fell in love with them when I spotted them in store, despite not being a huge advocate of trousers! They're such a bold, eye-catching print - I feel like a crazy birthday cake of sorts when I wear them! I know a lot of people don't like to wear bright colours in winter but I'll definitely be teaming these with darker colours in the colder months and a black leather jacket to get plenty of wear out of them. I kept the rest of this outfit quite neutral to let the trousers do the talking. These nude brogues have been probably the most versatile shoes I've ever bought - I wish I'd stockpiled them, I'll be devastated when I inevitably wear them out!

Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend! xo

remember me?

Hi there! I imagine most of you reading this right now are trying to remember when on earth you followed me and trying to recall my last post, right? Well, it has definitely been a while since I last reached out to you all! I'm not going to go into too much detail as to the who, whys and hows behind my absence as my reasons are quite personal, but in the time since I last posted, it's fair to say that my life has changed quite a bit. For starters, I graduated university!

Anyway, the long and short of it is that although I haven't really been around on my own blog as such, I've never stopped lurking in the background of the blogging world and reading everybody else's posts (in the most non-creepy way that you can lurk...). I finally decided to kick start my blog again a few weeks ago and, well, here I am!

I thought I'd keep this 're-introduction' post quite short and sweet anyway, so here are a couple of shots of what I wore out with a friend yesterday.

Quite a basic outfit really. Honestly, I'm not a great summer dresser: everything's always very simple because I get hot very easily, even in the British climate! I'd much rather the weather was cooler so I could cosy up in some nice knitwear and lots of layers! I'm a huge fan of plain basics like this white Cos t-shirt because you can just throw them on with anything. This New Look skirt was a bargain I picked up in the sale for about £10 - something I was really chuffed about since I'd considered buying it at full price about two weeks beforehand! I'm really into dip hems right now (I know, I know, who isn't?); I just think they add a bit of interest to an otherwise plain piece of clothing. I'm wearing these boots to death at the moment - they're another sale buy! I think I paid about £35 for them in the Topshop sale. They kind of remind me of the Allegra boots that everybody went crazy for a while back, but I love the fact that they come in grey - I don't know why, but I just feel like grey is much less harsh against my extremely pale skin tone!

So much for keeping this post short and sweet... I guess my ability to ramble has never changed! Catch you all soon. xo

konnichiwa

Just a quick post, lovelies, as I am off to the cinema this evening. My pictures were confined to the great British indoors today as it has been grey, miserable and rainy for the last three days where I live. Just a few days ago, I was raving about how gorgeous the weather had been - I guess I must have jinxed it! The pictures we did take weren't that great, so there are only a couple, but I really wanted to make a post for my new summer jacket.

Love love love. It's a gorgeous, lightweight chiffon, with big, kimono style sleeves - we didn't get a good shot of the sleeves, but definitely will when I wear it next. It feels so pretty and oriental - I love anything inspired by Japan. I wore it over a pretty basic, all black outfit but am already itching to wear it with brights and sandals - when the sun makes another appearance, maybe! This outfit is definitely more autumnal than I'm used to of late, but hopefully I'll be back in my summer brights and skirts before too long.

Bye for now! xo

love the way you lie

Well, the weather yesterday was not particularly British at all. It was 30 degrees all day here, which my pale, English skin is most definitely not used to. I adore warm weather, but a downside when you're as ghostly as I am is the annoying and itchy sunburn which I inevitably end up nursing for the subsequent weeks! We spent most of the day wandering around our city, soaking up the lovely warmth and drinking cold drinks since this was my only free day this week and until next Tuesday! I am headed back to my hometown in the north of England next week, and I can't wait to see my Mum, sister and best friends again. I'm not a homesick person but it will be lovely to have a much needed catch up. I have a week to cram all my mad packing in (though this will probably get left until the last minute, since I am an avid packing procrastinator...), but I am very excited!

I bought some new flat sandals while I was out today, since I managed to knock some little beads off my favourite pair, which I am rather devastated about. I am hoping they can be saved with a little superglue, but we will see! Both of my Grandmothers have the magic touch when it comes to things like this, so I will probably pack them away until next week and see what they can do. Here are my sandals, along with a pretty seafoam green blouse with vintage-feel lace shoulders.

Just before we snapped this picture my inner clutz had me stumbling into some nettles, hence the sad face - ouch! I fully intended to get lots more pictures yesterday, but we took these when we were on our way to the store for some dinner and once we'd bought food, we were too hungry to bother getting the camera out again! You can just about make out my new mint green nail polish - I am in love with pastel coloured nails at the moment! Very pretty and summery.

I am off to get ready for a hot, sticky day in work - it's 30 degrees again here, which means it's going to be ridiculous in my workplace! I will catch up with you all on Tuesday, hopefully. Have a great weekend! xo
